- 8 ounces medium uncooked shells
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 medium onion (chopped)
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 1/3 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Boil water in a large pot. Add shells and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté the onion: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chopped onion for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Brown the beef: Add ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned (about 5 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add flavors: Stir in minced garlic and chili powder, then add tomato sauce and beef broth. Simmer for 4-5 minutes.
- Create the creamy sauce: Mix in heavy cream and season with salt & pepper. Heat through.
- Combine: Toss cooked shells into the sauce until evenly coated. Serve warm.
