- 8 ounces penne pasta
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup half-and-half
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Mozzarella and cheddar cheese for topping
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta in salted boiling water for about 8-10 minutes until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, drain, and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté the diced onion for about 5 minutes until soft. Add ground turkey, breaking it apart and cooking until browned (6-8 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning; stir in minced garlic.
- Sprinkle flour over the turkey mixture and stir for 1 minute. Gradually pour in chicken broth and tomato sauce; cook until thickened (3-5 minutes).
- Combine cooked penne into the sauce and fold in half-and-half for creaminess.
- Reduce heat to low, mix in half of the mozzarella and cheddar until melted. Top with remaining cheese; cover for a minute to melt completely.
- Serve hot garnished with parsley and optional red chili flakes.
