  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: Serves approximately four people 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces Penne Pasta
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion
  • 1 pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce
  • ½ cup Half-and-half
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese
  • Fresh Parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water in a large pot. Cook penne according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Reserve about a cup of pasta water, drain, and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté chopped onion for about 5 minutes until soft.
  3. Add ground turkey to the skillet, cooking for about 6-8 minutes until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning; stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the turkey mixture and stir continuously for one minute. Gradually add chicken broth and tomato sauce. Simmer for about 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  5. Fold cooked penne into the sauce; stir in half-and-half, adjusting thickness with reserved pasta water if necessary.
  6. Lower heat and mix in half of the mozzarella and cheddar until melted. Top with remaining cheese, cover for a few minutes to melt further.
  7. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
